Witch hat pattern

Because Halloween is coming, I made a little free pattern to have fun with.

Teddy is! Or maybe not…..

Here’s the pattern, a picture of just the hat is below.

Crochet Witch Hat pattern.

For this pattern I used a fuzzy worsted weight yarn and a 3,5 mm / hook E. The hat is standing 10 x 12 cm / 3,9 x 4,7 inch.
The hat is made in the round in Double Crochet stitches. Join after each round and add a chain of 3 in the beginning of each round, as I’ve written in the pattern.

1. magic ring of 4 = 4, join
2. ch 1, sc in each st around = 4, join
3. ch 3, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) x2 = 6, join
4. ch 3, (dc in next st, 2 dc in the next 2 st) x2 = 10, join
5. ch 3, dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 st, = 12, join
6. ch 3, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) x6 = 18, join
7. ch 3, dc in each st around = 18, join
8. ch 3, dc in next 4 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 8 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 st = 20, join
9. ch 3, dc in next 4 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 9 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 st = 22, join
10. ch 3, (dc in next 10 st, 2 dc in next st) x2 = 24, join
11. ch 3, (dc in next 3 st, 2 dc in next st) x 6 = 30, join
12. ch 3, (dc in next 4 st, 2 dc in next st) x6 = 36, join.
13. ch 3, (dc in next 5 st, 2 dc in next st) x6 = 42, join, sl st, weave in end.

Little grey band
1. ch of 26, join.
2. ch 3, dc x 26, join and leave long tail for sewing band to hat.

Mistakes in this pattern? Nooooo, can’t be, well if so, let me know and I’ll fix it!

Trin, crochet mouse pattern.

My little friend of the forest, the adventurer mouse Trin, is finished.

gehaakte muis, amigurumi mouse

I’m very happy with the result. Making realistic crochet animals is fun, but designing a doll like this is exciting, because I create a completely new character, like a game figure. This crochet mouse amigurumi is an adventurer, travelling through the forest.

Trin is approximately 6.5 inch/16.5 cm tall when made with worsted weight yarn. I’ve used Istex Lett lopi to make this mouse, it is a 100% wool with a lot of fuzziness.

Because this is one of my first patterns, it received an update in march 2018. The new pattern is written like the free ones here, in standard American crochet terms. It contains a clear description of how to crochet and assemble this animal, with extra illustrations and example pictures at the bottom to help you get everything right. In the pattern you can also find what materials you need, the yarn colour numbers, in short, everything you need to know to make your own adventurer mouse. All the additional information you need to know about this pattern you can find in the shop listings. You can buy this pattern in my shop at Craftsy and in my Ravelry shop. You can also order the pattern directly from me here.

The acorns you can also find in a free pattern here, ‘the oak leaves and acorns pattern‘.

Trin is extra special to me because he resembles the style of my illustrations. And he could easily be the character in a children’s book.

This mouse is called Trin because of the mouse we tried to safe from a cat attack in Trin-Mulin in Switzerland. The mouse died and the cat went home to his food bowl.

Ho ho ho, merry Christmas!

"santa claus christmas painting"

No gifts Again?
Acrylic on canvas, 18 x 30 cm
By Sonja van der Wijk, me 🙂

This years Christmas card, which I’ve sent to family and friends. I’m very satisfied with it. It was quite difficult to make this paintig, because I’ve no experience in painting snow and I had some trouble with it.

The title is based on last years card, in which Santa got robbed by an UFO. I’ll add that one at the bottom of this post.

Here are some close-ups.

"reindeer rendieren red nose"

"santa clause foxes and rabbits, de kerstman"

And, last years Extraterrestrial Christmas Robbery.

"Extraterrestrial Christmas Robbery painting"

I hope these ‘ll give you a laugh!

I haven’t really started on crochet Starfox, but I will in Januari, I didn’t feel like it yet….
