Yesterday we went to enjoy the snow and saw these little fellows. Just wanted to share.

…I find one of the more challenging bits of creating a new crochet doll. When I design a ‘popke’, the last stadium is pinning everything on to see if all the proportions are definite. And when I decide they are, it means that how it looks that moment, is quite perfect to me. But because all the parts are not completely finished, they might need to be adjusted , they aren’t ready to be sewed on and I have to take them off again to finish them with slip stitches etc.
And this is the stadium I’m in with the dog at this very moment. It’s a bit scary now to take the body parts off, because I’m afraid I can’t get them at those perfect spots the time I re-pin them for sewing….Well, I’ve market the spots as good as possible so let’s get it done!
Tomorrow I’ll write down the pattern and take some good pictures, so he will be here shortly after that.
Progress update
I just want to let know to every one who’s looking forward to ‘Hondje’, that I’ve made some progress. I assumed the head would be the most challenging, and it was, but I’ve got the right shape for it.
Next week I’ll have enough time to work on the doggy, so I hope he will be finished soon!
Happy Christmas!
A winter update
It’s almost Christmas and I like it. So do the Popkes as you can see. I was going to make a free Christmas pattern, but unfortunately I don’t have time for it….
Since November I’m working on a big assignment, I’m making illustrations for a children’s book. It’s absolutely a great and I love the story of the book and the drawings I can make for it, it suits me perfect and I’m still very glad the writer found my work! But because of that I just don’t have enough time for a Christmas pattern.
More patterns will come though, even when I have to draw a lot, I will make time for new crochet animals. In the upcoming Christmas holiday I’m going to make a crochet dog. I’m more a cat person than a dog person, but I’ve got this great idea for a doggy, inspired by my boyfriends first pluche doll ever. I’m looking forward to make him.
When the book is finished I will post some illustrations at my website and the sketch of the doggy will be here soon!
Have a nice week, Sonja.
Kitty cat crochet
There are so many idea’s I have, and each time I start a new project I have to pick which one I’m going to make. A squirrel and a sheep are hight on my list, but I also would like to make a cat. Sometimes the things on my list haven’t really ‘formed’ in my mind, so the idea that has, gets priority. This time the cat got it. There’s a clear image in my mind of how he should become and his colours etc. so I can’t wait to make him.
Here’s a sketch. He will be a ‘folded’ kitty.
Who’s this?
Hanging out
My shoes I love…..
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved shoes. Not girly shoes whit heals and fussy stuff, but sneakers…..I love sneakers! When I was a little kid, I would even take my new shoes to bed with me.
A few years back I bought my first suede Converse All Star sneakers and I totally loved them, they where the coolest! After a while I regretted I hadn’t bought a double pair of them, because they had become my favourite shoes and someday they would be too old and totally worn off. Luckily for me they still are in good shape and even better, this winter they are back into fashion! I’ve found totally awesome new ones! I took a picture of them. The brown and black pair are the old ones, and the green/grey-ish the new pair. Okay, I know this has got nothing to do with amigurumi or crochet, but they are ‘shearling’ all stars, which means they have wool (fake though) on the inside. So they are a bit sheepish….
Aren’t they beautiful! You can see I took good care of them, the brown and black ones are 5 years old. And I still only own sneakers. I haven’t got one pair of ‘normal’ shoes or high heals.
And now enough with the personal chit-chat! Next week I’m starting on crochet Star Fox! I had to postpone that a bit, because I was a blistering idiot to get a dislocated shoulder during my dance class. It’s idiotic because it already happened a few times before and I wasn’t smart enough to listen to the warning….this time I had to go to a hospital to get it back into place. But now I’m back in business!
