This week I can finally release a long expected pattern and what a bliss it is. I finished my wooly puffin bird last week and celebrated it with this outdoor picture. What a happy puffin!
Thank you everybody, for all your enthusiastic and encouraging messages. I have never gotten so many request for a pattern before it was released. Just a few more days and you can all start making your own puffin!
The Popkes and I risked a heath stroke this afternoon, doing a photoshoot outside whilst it was 35 degrees celsius! Admitting, it was probably just me getting a bit over heated, they seemed to rather enjoy themselves really.
What a thrill, my summer holiday has almost started! Just relaxing, watching wildlife and doing long forest strolls are the things I am looking forward to so much.
I had to postpone the puffin pattern a bit, but not to worry. I think during all the relaxing and wildlife watching, I probably cannot stop myself from working on it every now and then. The puffin pattern will be the first pattern to be released.

I absolutely feel delighted to start the year with a new animal to make, a very wintery creature, the arctic fox. He will be very different from Flam the fox, as arctic foxes have much more subtile features. Their ears and noses are smaller than the ones of red foxes, to prevent them from freezing, and they have an incredible thick and fuzzy coat. I’m sure this little fox will have a brushed tail and maybe I will brush him all over to make him extra fluffy and soft. And if he asks me for one, I will make him a nice warm scarf like his red cousin.
For 2015 I have a lot of new creatures in mind. Hamsters and guinea pigs, a Mr. ratty, a polecat, maybe some more water creatures and much more. If anyone ever feels I am missing an animal, do let me know, I’m very curious what you think and maybe I will make the animal.
The hedgehog crochet pattern is finished, and just in time because it’s really autumn now, the perfect season to crochet hedgehogs! My previous post already showed a glimpse of Flims, but here he is in his full glory.
When I started working on this crochet hedgehog pattern, I wasn’t sure how to create the hedgehog prickles. I tried several techniques but they all had cons that would influence the end result. For instance, I thought the loop stitch would give the perfect prickly effect, but the loops form in the inside of the head and turning it around wasn’t an option because that would leave sloppy colour changes. Neither do I like the texture of the inside.
I decided to go for brushing and I’m absolutely glad I did. Flims is a soft animal plushy and I love him. He now is very cuddly and also has hedgehog features, because of his little snouty face, shape and colours. Flims is the soft amigurumi version of his prickly twin.

Flims is sitting 5 inch/13 cm tall, he is made with Istex Lett Lopi, a 100% wool with a lot of fuzziness that works very well with brushing. I’ve used three colours of yarn and the furry back is one of those three colours but brushed with a hard brush.
The pattern contains a clear and colour coded description of how to crochet and assemble this animal, with extra illustrations and example pictures at the bottom to help you get everything right. In the pattern you can also find what materials you need, the yarn colour numbers, in short, everything you need to know to make your own prickly but soft hedgehog amigurumi. My crochet teddy bear is one of the first crochet patterns I designed. Back then I didn’t create a little studio for photographing my dolls and because of that I never had images of Teddy like the ones I make now.
So, I decided to take some new and better images of Teddy.
Because my old Teddy bear pictures are ‘high ranking’ in google search, I can’t, dare to replace them, even though I like these better.
This bear will always be very special to me. He’s very photogenic and has this funny expression which I adore.
